The time is finally here! Atoll will be opened one hour from now. Please note, the atoll spawn is still a work in progress. Also, if you find any bugs, please report them immediately! There may be some bugs since this server has not been tested by a large audience before. Want your stuff moved over? You can request a staff member to move stuff with worldedit IF your stuff is not built into the terrain or bigger than 50x50x50. This means we can move small builds as well as collections of chests for you (I suggest consolidating your stuff into chests and having us move all the chests over at once). If you want your builds or chests moved to Atoll, please request this before March 31st! As you know, inventories sync between servers so you can also move over your items manually. We’ll see you on Atoll in 1 hour!
After the upgrade to multiple machines the servers have been preforming great, however as you might have noticed there are still lag spikes. These lag spikes were being caused by people teleporting while riding on pets. Sadly the MyPet developer has not been able to fix this yet. Due to this we have no choice but to disable riding on MyPets until it is fixed.
Valley was down earlier today because it was crashing while starting up. We believe the cause was the plug-in “VotingPlugin”. After removing the plug-in, the server appears to be running like normal.
Notice: Valley is unable to process votes right now because the plug-in is disabled!
We are looking into having a custom plug-in written to replace the unstable plugin and do not currently plan to reinstall the unstable plug-in.
While we look for a custom plug-in to be written, we will reinstall an older version of VotingPlugin that did not give us any troubles.
All of the Minecraft server instances crashed around 6:30AM UTC on March 8th. We are still looking into the logs that were generated to determine possible causes, but so far we know that the crash was caused by some sort of issue related to handling a specific user’s vehicle (possibly a minecart, boat, or MyPet) and it was the same user that went on each server and crashed each server immediately after joining.
The very first step we took in resolving this issue was banning that player. Then, while trying to extract the logs from the crash, we somehow managed to cause a second crash, likely related to the method we used to transfer the 5.1GB log files.
All of the servers are back online now and appear to be operating like normal. We will attempt to determine the exact cause of the initial crash and implement a solution for it, but due to the nature of the situation, we will not be publishing any further developments on the situation.
Our host has completed their emergency maintenance and connection to the US has been re-established. Our services should be accessible again.
They are still conducting repairs on the original line, but we do not expect any further downtime. You can view status updates from the host here:
UPDATE 3: They’ve replaced the damaged fiber and are in the process of rolling all of the connections over to the new link.
UPDATE 2: They’ve determined it is an issue with the fiber connection from Washington to Beauharnois (the datacenter location) so it only affects US players.
UPDATE: Our host has confirmed that the cluster of servers that our hardware is located within is currently having some network issues. They are already working on resolving it. There is no action needed by us – we just need to wait.
We are aware that there are some network issues involving our servers at the moment. All three of our physical machines appear to be very slow to respond and occasionally unable to send outgoing packets. As we have not changed any configurations recently, and things were running fine earlier this week, we believe the issue is on our hosts end NOT on our end.
At this time we are investigating the issue but believe that this will only be a matter of waiting for our host to resolve the issue. Sorry for the inconvenience.
The servers are now back online. Things appear to be working correctly, but, again, we will continue to monitor them throughout the next week to make sure there are no issues.
Remember: There may some unexpected bugs and reboots!
We are finally ready to try and transfer everything to our new hardware. I am shutting down the servers in 15 minutes to begin the process. Please note: the servers will be offline for several hours during this process!
Also, players should not notice any difference while using the server. From a client-perspective, everything still works the same. This new hardware changes a lot of things on the backend that will make things very different for administrators, but players will not notice anything different.
Since the i9 9900K server did NOT work out, I decided to buy three new computers and configure our network to work by connecting them all together instead of running everything on a single computer. This requires re-configuring a LOT of stuff! I believe the new computers are ready-enough for us to move the Minecraft servers onto them, so I will be doing that tomorrow (March 1st).
You should expect some bugs and reboots during the first week or so on the new hardware! This is a very complicated setup and, while I’ve done my best to test everything, I am only one person. Once we get 200 people online – things might start to break that we didn’t catch at first.
I will make an announcement 15 minutes before I shut down the servers to begin transferring them to the new hardware. Keep an eye out for it tomorrow (March 1st)!
