The new hardware went completely offline shortly after I finished setting everything up last night. Unfortunately, I’ve just woken up now to discover this issue. I cannot access the hardware at all and I have no idea why it went offline.

Unfortunately, I do not have time right now to look into this issue further and I’m pretty sure the only “solution” would be to let the new host’s tech support have root access to the server and do various reboots, which would mean downtime anyway, SOOOOO I’ve restarted all of the servers on the old hardware!

Anything that was done while the servers were up for a brief period last night will be gone, but that’s only about an hour of data – not worth taking another 8 to move over.

I’ll look into this further later today, for now, enjoy everything like we never tried to move in the first place.

We will be shutting down in 15 minutes to attempt to move to the new hardware. Expect the server to be down for SEVERAL hours. Last time we did this, it took 8 hours…

If things go smoothly, everything will be running on the new hardware tonight. If things don’t go smoothly, we will just start up the old hardware again and try again tomorrow. I will make an announcement once we are done to let you know how it went.

Our new hardware is finally ready and I will begin configuring it tomorrow around 3:00PM CST. I will begin by doing whatever I can without shutting down the servers, but at some point, in order to move all the world and player data over, I will need to shut down everything. Once I do, they will be down for several hours!

I will give some sort of warning before shutting them down. It will likely be around a 15 minute warning so please watch carefully for it if you play after 3PM CST tomorrow.

We’ve just ordered a new server from ReliableSite.net. We will be upgrading from an i7 7700k to an i9 9900k – this will give us twice as many cores and slightly better single core performance as well.

We’ve never worked with ReliableSite.net before and we are unsure of what to expect. There may be unexpected downtime while we transition to an entirely new host and get everything working properly. Depending on how things go we may also end up moving back to OVH.

I will be moving Altitude to the new hardware this week. Due to my time constraints outside of Altitude, I may not be able to give much of a warning before shutting down the server. I need to fit everything in when I can, but I will do my best to give a fair warning. Basically, expect some downtime throughout the next week.
