We Are Not on 1.13.2 Yet!

Mojang released Minecraft 1.13.2 today, but we have not updated yet. It will likely be a couple of days before we do. Until we update, you MUST continue using 1.13.1 to connect to the server! If you are unable to connect to Altitude, you are likely using the wrong version. To change your Minecraft version you can follow the guide on Mojang’s website: https://help.mojang.com/customer/portal/articles/1475923-changing-game-versions.

Synced Inventories Have Been Installed

Synced Inventories Have Been Installed

Inventories and economy data now sync between survival servers. I understand some Apex data has been lost (no Summit data should have been lost.) We will work on restoring lost data over the next week but it will take us some time PLEASE BE PATIENT! Only admins and head admins can access the data, so they will be working hard to work through everyone’s requests. We have backups of the data so nothing is lost DO NOT FREAK OUT!

Merged Inventories Coming (for real this time)!

Merged Inventories Coming (for real this time)!

On Saturday, October 20th, at 8PM CDT (Oct 21th 1AM GMT), we will install a plugin that will merge player data between both survival servers: Apex and Summit. Inventories, health, exp, and economy balances should carry between servers with this plugin. PLEASE NOTE: the plugin will not know which inventory it should import, so if you have been on both servers it will only take your Summit inventory & enderchest. To make sure you don’t lose your stuff, everyone should…

New Plan: Dual Survival Servers

New Plan: Dual Survival Servers

As you all know, we’ve been struggling to support more people on Altitude – we’ve reached a point where Altitude can’t hold everyone who wants to be a part of it! Since Altitude is almost always full, some members would have eventually given up and left to go find another server. I believe that everyone here is part of Altitude because they like the features we offer and the way we run our server, so rather than making some of…

We’ve Switched to Waterfall!

We’ve Switched to Waterfall!

In order to support the growing community we have decided to go all-in with a potential solution: Waterfall. Waterfall allows us to run multiple Minecraft servers at the same time and link them together to feel like just one server. We’ve moved the nether and the end to their own servers, so when you go to them you are actually going to an entirely different server! We’ve also added a Resource world (server) that has a couple custom settings. Currently…

More Information on Lag

More Information on Lag

I’m putting this information here so that it’s accessible to everyone. For anyone curious, this is a timings report from the server over the last hour. “Timings” monitors the server’s performance by measuring how long each process takes to complete: https://timings.aikar.co/?id=801e712b384442d580a24c711be5aada Minecraft servers run on “ticks”. Every “tick” things are processed like grass growing, mobs moving, chests opening, blocks breaking, commands, etc. Each second there should be 20 “ticks” – so each tick should last 50ms or less. Right now…

Fixing Lag Every Day

Fixing Lag Every Day

Every day we are trying new things to fight the lag and support the size of this community. The amount of people wanting to play is way larger than we ever anticipated, and the inefficiency of 1.13’s code is way worse than we thought. Every day we are making changes to test solutions and learn more about what’s causing the lag. For example, today I have temporarily disabled natural hostile mob spawning to see how they effect server performance. It…

Replacing Residence with GriefPrevention

Replacing Residence with GriefPrevention

Due to the amount of issues we are having with Residence, we are reverting back to GriefPrevention for land claiming. Residence will remain on the server for a short period of time so that everyone can delete their Residence claims and re-protect their land with GriefPrevention instead. We’ve changed some settings in GriefPrevention so that players do _not_ earn claim blocks over time by playing. Instead, you must buy claim blocks with /buyclaimblocks. This way, you can buy as many…
