Owner Stepping Down? (Kinda)
Hi everyone, when I opened Altitude in 2015 I never expected it to become what it has today. It was originally a super simple private server for a couple of friends and has since grown into a home for thousands of Minecraft players around the globe. It’s been wonderful seeing so many people come to love what I’ve created. My enjoyment with Minecraft, however, is nearing it’s end.
This is the third major server I’ve opened and managed. I’ve been doing this pretty consistently for the last 6 years of my life and it’s been a long, long time since I’ve actually enjoyed the game. Those who know me well know that I haven’t actually played the game (Minecraft) in over two years. I spend my time solely working on the server, and even that it beginning to wear on me now. It has opened so many doors for me and is the reason that I am majoring in networking today. This server started as a little project of mine, a challenge to see what I could do on my own, but I realize that it’s no longer about what I want to do, but instead what’s best for the community. Altitude is home to so many people and the center of such a great community that I want it to be built the best it can be for all of you, and I’m not connected with the community on the level that I should be.
It is with these things in mind that I’ve decided to “step down” from my current role on Altitude. Moving forward the direction Altitude takes will be managed by our great team of administrators: destro174, MrShack, and mingming419. Together they will slowly take over most of the responsibilities that I was accountable for and they will be the face of Altitude to keep Altitude growing and improving in the direction it should be. They know the community better than anyone and I know they will do things with the server that I could have never done! I currently plan to continue to work on the server behind the scenes, assisting with managing the hardware, updating and configuring plugins, and fixing bugs. I will also continue to help manage the staffing team, the website, the donations, and other “behind the scenes stuff”.
I will continue to be a part of the community and participate on the various social platforms we have (like Discord), but if anyone has any suggestions, requests, or complaints, I am no longer the person to talk to. I look forward to seeing what our administrators and entire staffing team can do and continue watching the Altitude community grow. Thank you for all the memories and I’ll see you around!
